Today I woke up around 4am because I had to take a piss. It happens everyday and I hate it. But today was different, I was so sleepy and out of it that I lost my balance before I got to take a leak. I dunno how it happened, I was just standing there and next thing I know I was leaning too far back and I rammed myself into the towel rack behind me. I didn’t realise how bad it was till the morning when I saw the towel rack was bent! I tried to fix it and here’s how it looks right now…

Towel Rack

Today was terrible too… I was so sleepy. I kept dozing off at work and I had a headache again! ugh! I was probably tired because I did absolutely nothing during the weekend. Now isn’t that ironic? I just stayed at home, on my bed reading a book and watching TV.

Let’s see, I had a big headache on Saturday and Sunday so I didn’t want to go out at all. Joyce asked me to go to the Tofu Festival and Al Lowe suggested we go to Beige. Both sounded so good but I didn’t think I could survive the trip over there and back. Heck I barely survived going out to get lunch. I wonder if there’s something really wrong my head or if I’m just not getting enough sleep.

Sunday was pretty much dedicated to finishing the 5th Harry Potter book. I finished it but it was the most tedious thing to read. Joyce and I agree that Harry whined too much in that book, just like Ephram from Everwood. I fell asleep a couple of times reading the book.. then again I shouldn’t have read the book while in bed. I’ll be putting the 6th book on hold and focus on the Chronicles of Narnia next… I’m just sick of Harry Potter right now.

I also managed to watch a couple episodes from the second season of Spooks (a.k.a. MI-5 over here) on Sunday. If you haven’t heard about it, just think of it as a more down to earth version of Alias, sans the hot leading actress. After Spooks I wanna start watching Freaks & Geeks. It’s one of the best tv series ever; unfortunately, it was short lived due to low ratings. You know it’s set in the 80s (I love the 80s) and if you were a geek or a freak you could definitely relate. Another tv series that I really miss is the WB’s Grosse Pointe.

The WB was really great back then (1998-2001). How could I have surived high school without the WB? Well we didn’t have the WB back home.. Dawson’s Creek was on channel 21 but it was like a season behind. However, I sort of cheated I had my bro tape the episodes for me and had him ship it back home. haha! If it weren’t for Dawson’s Creek and Felicity, life would have been a drab. Not a word from you Al Lowe!

Dawson’s Creek man! OMG! Actually I stopped watching that show when it got all crazy.. when everyone dated each other already and they were going for seconds.. but the first 2 years were great… and what made it great was Jack’s storyline. It was that whole coming out thing.. Matt (down2reef) and I were suckers for that stuff back then. After every episode all we talked about what happened with Jack.
Also who could forget about duck face, I mean Jen.

Then there was Felicity. I started watching it during senior year in high school. C’mon, I was looking forward to college at the time and Felicity gave me a preview of what life could be like once I got there. Little did I know that UCI was a far cry from the University of New York. If there was ever a show that represented life in UCI it would have been cancelled after the first episode. The only thing I watch now on the WB is the Gilmore Girls. After all these years it’s still a fun show to watch.

BTW, I apologise for bringing up Dawson’s Creek but I was suddenly hit with nostalgia.

I finally managed to watch Star Trek Nemesis again, after two and a half years since it was released in the theatres. It actually was lot more enjoyable watching the movie now since I had a better appreciation of the finer details. Namely, I got to see Wil Wheaton, a.k.a. Wesley Crusher, in the movie.

I was on the look out for Wheaton this time around. I didn’t even know he was on there till I read his book, Just a Geek, last month. Unfortunately, his big scene got cut out of the movie and he ended up being like another extra in the movie. From what he said in the book, I was actually surprised to see a lot of him in the movie. But yes, I did see him… and so can you!

Wil - smile!

That was probably the best shot of him in the movie. You know, being part of the movie is a big deal to Wil. You can even read what he says about it here.

But seeing Star Trek: Nemesis wasn’t just about Wil Wheaton. It was about getting back in touch with what I loved most as a kid, namely Star Trek! There’s just so much to love about Star Trek! From the battle scenes to the dialogue they use. C’mon how can you not get goose bumps from something like phrases like “positronic matrix” or “fire all phasers and photon torpedo banks”??

The only problem now is that there’s nothing new to watch anymore. Honestly, after Voyager, I’ve completely lost interest in Star Trek. Star Trek: Enterprise just sucked. I couldn’t really get into it except for the second to the last season. Is it possible that 28 years from now a new Star Trek series will to pop up? Maybe. God, I’d be 51 by then! But imagine how much cooler Star Trek could be 28 years from now. Just imagine.

I just heard the weirdest/funniest shit today (but considering “today” only started 20 mins ago, that’s not saying much). Basically it’s Harry Potter in porn. Ah shit! Talk about timing, now I’m going to have this image of potter and malfoy fucking stuck in my head while reading the book.

Anyway, I made it to chapter 28 today of book 5. On p. 626 there’s an interesting bit of dialogue between malfoy and potter’s gang.

Draco Malfoy had slid out from behind the door, closely follwoed by Crabbe and Goyle. His pale, pointed face was alight with malice.

“Afraid I’m going to have a dock a few points from Gryffindor and Hufflepuff,” he drawled.

‘So, Granger, I’ll have five from you for being rude about our new headmistress… Macmillian, five for contradicting me…. Five because I don’t like you, Potter… and I expect to see you in my dormitory so I can give you your other errm.. punishment… Weasley, your shirt’s untucked, so I’ll have another five for that… plus I’ll see you after I’m done fucking… I mean punishing, Harry.’

Ron pulled out his wand, but Hermione pushed it away, whispering ‘Don’t! He hasn’t done Potter yet!’

‘Wise move, Granger,’ breathed Malfoy. ‘New Head, new times… Be good now, Potty… Weasel King…’

Whoa where’d that come from?!

It’s time now for me to finish The Order of the Phoenix. I’ve put it aside long enough! Actually I got to finish because it’s hard to avoid hearing stuff about the 6th Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince. This is me we’re talking about: the guy who avoided watching the Star Wars ep III trailer so that everything will be new when I watch the movie. This is the guy who was mentally damaged when a classmate, by the name of Kathy, shouted “Aeris dies!” when I just started playing Final Fantasy VII.

So yes, I’m making a point now to finish the 5th Harry Potter book as fast as I can. I’m only limited now by my ability to stay awake while reading/listening to the book. Yesterday, I fell asleep while listening to the audio book. Is the 5th book that bad or did I fall asleep due to 6 hours of sleep I had the day before? But it’s Harry Potter, how can you not like Harry Potter? What kind of person could not like Harry Potter? I know. Al Lowe. Though that’s unfair since he never read the book, but just slept through the movie. Maybe it’s the type of person who got bored reading The Da Vinci Code, which, in that case, is my boss. Seriously, he said it was boring!

Well I only have less that half of the 5th book to go. Considering I listen to the audio book and read the book at the same time, I have less than a week to go before I’m done. Maybe I can even finish it today. No I actually have to work so I can’t finish it today.
