Finally got the stupid Xanga WP plug-in up and running. Gotta thank Cj B for helping out some but also gotta thank tech support since they had install a couple of PEAR packages for me. Oh and I gotta thank my Mom for giving birth to me; my agent, Ari, for getting me this role; the Hollywood Foreign Press; and of course, God.

Hopefully after I click on the publish button, this post will automatically show up on my Xanga site.

Also I’m not as anal as Cj B so I probably won’t copy all my Xanga posts and comments over to this site. LoL.

Ok now I’m debating if I should close my Xanga account down or not. It’s sort of pointless keeping this one alive right? Then again, this blog contains all the stuff I’ve written for the past 2 years! I can’t believe it’s been that long. I remember finding out about xanga back in senior year. It was after ECE 161 finals and everyone was talking about their blog… “oh you’ve got a blog?! me too! it’s at xanga.com/blahblahblah”.

I guess i’ll keep this blog alive. i’ll probably write the occasional hello just so that I don’t forget about this. maybe 10 years down the road, I’ll actually spend some time reading what I wrote back here and realise how much of a dork I was.

Argh! I can’t get the comments to work properly on this site. Comments always show up as being created by Anonymous. Who is this Anonymous?! haha!
For some reason the values of the name and URI text fields don’t make it through once you click on Say It. yeah.. how is it that the email address and the comment itself make it but not the name and URI?! bah!

Seems like martymcfry v 2.0 isn’t going to happen for a while. It’s going to be a while before I figure out how the hell to integrate this blog with everything else I want to add on this site. So for now, it’s just martymcfry v 1.0 – blog. Actually there might be a v 1.5 where I change the layout a bit. You just have to wait till next weekend for that to happen.

So here it is, my first real website… none of that free website stuff like xanga… Honestly there isn’t anything wrong with Xanga, I still love it, but I just felt that I could take my site to the next level. So this is martymcfry v 1.0 and as you can probably tell, I didn’t design this page myself nor did I even write any HTML at all. For those of you who haven’t seen martymcfry v 0.1, I’ve included a pic of it below. Yes it says “Herro word.” Those familiar with engrish and programming should get this right away.

v 1.0 is built with WordPress, which is just another blogging tool out there. If you’re on FireFox, you should see the RSS symbol at the bottom right corner of your browser. Click on it to subscribe to my site! I really intend to put my own touches into this site, maybe even dump WordPress and write everything myself. Though considering my lack of creativity, I’d end up creating somtehing that looks like something from the mid 90’s (oh that’s so 10 yrs ago). I got suggestions from Al Lowe to add Flash into the page and Indiochink told me to add photos and stuff… and I promise I’ll get to those soon. I really don’t want this site to become is another pure blogging page you know because I’m already doing that with my Xanga page. So yeah give me some time, there’s a lot of stuff for me to learn right now. I still have to figure out how to set the correct time on my blog. Right now it says the timestamp for this blog entry is July 23 @ 11:45am when it’s only July 22 @11:21pm.
