Here are the Top 3 electronic things I’ve been dreaming about lately…

1) Sony DCR-HC90

Sony DCR-HC90

Let’s face it, the video quality on my HP R707 sucks. I need something much better if I were to make another film. It’s also time that I upgraded from my 10 year old camcorder… I have to get with the programme.

2) Canon EOS-20D

Canon EOS-20D

While my R707 is pretty good for taking everyday pictures, it just doesn’t produce the quality of pictures I like. The EOS-20D just seems a lot more professional… which is something I just cannot see in the Rebel. The new EOS-5D would be nice too but it’s too expensive.

3) Apple 15″ PowerBook G4

PowerBook G4

I’ve always wanted a laptop and a Mac so the PowerBook would be a perfect choice. Heck check out my desktop.

I made it myself cause I was bored. Doesn’t that just scream “I need a Mac”?? LOL

Actually I wouldn’t mind getting the iBook either since it looks cooler (the casing is in white!) and cheaper, but the PowerBook would probably be a better choice if I want to do video editing and such. Then again, a G5 would be ideal but I don’t need another desktop computer. Getting a G5 would also mean I have to get another monitor… nothing less than 23″ will do. haha!

With reality sinking in I don’t think I’ll be getting any of these some time soon. I always feel guilty for spending so much money on electronics… I keep asking myself, “Do I really need this?” The answer is obviously no, so why am I agonizing over this shit??

I would suggest going with the powerbook over the ibook. I had the same problem when I first bought mine. And lets just say that if I had gotten an ibook i’d be very unhappy!

They seem like such equals on the outside, but once you start using them daily you can really see all the differences. Such as the frontside bus speed, the mem speed and the graphics card.

but yeah i think the powerbook is the way to go. it’s just a better computer overall. i just wish i had the money for one. i wonder if there’ll be a $50 powerbook sale. LoL!

Here’s a way to get your camera for free!!

Motor Trend is having an “Automotive Photo of the Year” Contest in which it will choose one winner and publish his or her photo in the magazine as well as fork over a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT as a prize. The rules are pretty simple: don’t photoshop the pic (even red-eye removal is not allowed), get the permission of people and owners of vehicles that appear in your picture, and email your entry to photocontest@primedia.com. The photos will be judged by Motor Trend’s marketing staff using the following criteria: overall impact (25%), choice of vehicle and relevance to theme (25%), originality of submitted photograph and setting (25%), technical virtuosity (15%), composition of photograph (10%). Seriously, the only way I’m ever going to be able to afford a digital SLR at this point is to win it in a contest. Game on!

i agree with the writer, joining a contest is the only way i can afford a digital SLR. i so want to join this! thanks!

now, 25% for choice of vehicle? i just have to find a cool car to work with…

[...] So as you can see, nothing really extravegant. It’s definitely a far cry from the little wishlist I made a while back. I figure spending so much on those things is just a waste of money since I don’t need any of those things. Suze Orman will be proud!
